Telogen Effluvium Regimen...

I'm a 22 year old female and developed TE after taking birth control pills last year for a short period of 7 months, in addition to a severe 2 or 3 months of emotional trauma. I have been off of them now for 6 months but am still losing hair. Apparently I have chronic TE because my hair loss has lasted quite longer than the expected 3-6 months for this condition. Anyways, for about 2 or 3 months now I have been taking:

• a women's multi-vitamin


• 5 mg of biotin


• women's Rogaine, and


• Nutri-Ox shampoo for thinning hair

Nutri-Ox is the generic version of Nioxin (was told it was just as good). These products used all together have not stopped my hair loss, but I have noticed my hair growing much faster than it was.

For months it seemed as though it was not growing at all. My hair dresser has noticed tons of baby hairs growing all over my scalp. I am also thinking about getting a laser comb to speed things up. While I'm waiting on my hair to regain it's thickness it once had, I got some clip-in human hair extentions which have helped tremendously!

I highly recommend them to all women going through TE who have lost volume and density in their hair. Just clip them in, take them to your hair dresser and have them cut and colored to match your hair. That's what I did and it's virtually undetectable, not to mention relatively inexpensive ($80).
One reason (I believe) that people become so frustrated and depressed with TE is that they have to wait not only for it to stop falling out, but to start growing back again. With the extentions it allows you to have an immediate solution along with a long-term one (the vitamins, Rogaine, etc.). Good luck! :-)
