TE and Hair loss (Mid body lift = one bald women.)
by Robyn
Three weeks later I came down with pneumonia and an infection. I was in the hospital for 14 days, in ICU for 7 of them. I was very sick and I almost didn’t make it. I got out of the hospital in December and was slowing getting back. By Feb I was my old self again. I noticed in the beginning of February my hair really started to fall out. It was everywhere, on my boyfriend, the kids, in the food and on the key board. I bet I lost at least 60 percent of my hair. It's March 25th and I went to the doctor this week and all my labs were normal. The doctor insists it's TE and things will get back to normal within 60 months, in fact he said he is 99.9 percent sure I will have my hair back. If I would have known I almost would die and loose my hair I would have never had the surgery and I would have never gotten sick if I didn't have the surgery. Sure I have one flat tummy but I wasn't over weight in the first place and it just makes me sick knowing I almost died trying to be perfect. Now I sit here and kick myself. I started using the hair max, DHT blockers, hair vitamins, Rogaine, anything I could get my hands on mid February. I can't stand to look at myself and so I took advantage of my hair. It was long and thick and now it's short and SO thin I can see my scalp. My scalp often hurts and I'm sure it's from the Rogaine. The doctor tells me to stop, but I'm seeing some regrowth so I'm afraid to stop. I will post back in a few months. I have a before picture, but no after. I can't bring myself to take it. Editor’s Comments, Hi there. So sorry to hear about your ordeal and I am sure it must be a terrible experience. Your hair loss condition might most probably related to post traumatic stress that you faced from your story. I would honestly listen to your doctor’s advice as most of the time, TE will usually resolves itself over a period of time, and yes it can take months and even years depending on the severity of your condition. Also, you got to stop taking different kinds of hair loss medications especially DHT blockers. These meds are meant for treating specific kinds of hair loss conditions and are not meant for stress related hair loss. Taking them might trigger unnecessary side effects to your body. My advice to you for now is that you can take this opportunity to change your hair style, maybe a shorter hairstyle for the time being? Cutting it short will definitely mask the appearance of your hair loss and it can really look cool too. Short hair can also allow your treatments to reach your scalp easier without being stuck on your hair strands. Anyway, all the best to you and may you recover soon enough. |
