Suffering from excessive hair loss from last month
by Vikas
Well I am 25 year old male from India. I am suffering with sudden excessive hair loss problem from around 1 month (April 2009) with 50 to 100 hair comes out daily. When I move fingers between my hairs 3-4 hairs surely come out every time. I am clearly able to see my scalp of my head whenever I wash my hair and I can find the difference myself between the hair I am having now and I was having 2 months back. In last May 2008 I started suffering from patchy hair loss (Alopecia Areata). There were around 2 patches. Then I started taking medicines and after 3 -4 months, I was having proper hair over my head. In December 2008, I stopped eating the medicines as my hair were looking fine and no more new patches were coming. From Jan 2009 to March 2009, I was having normal hair loss 10 -25 hairs a day. I thought it was normal. In between in Feb 2009 I visited the Kaya Clinic Delhi just to show the doctor if everything is fine or not. She told me that everything is fine and need not to worry. She told me that if you want you can take intensive hair root therapy even though there was no problem in my hairs. She told that it will make the hair strong from roots. I started talking it. She also told me to take Zinc tablets. I started taking tablets as well Intensive hair root therapy session (after every 2 - 3 weeks). It took 3 sessions from Feb and March 2009. Everything was fine up to March 2009 end. In April 2009, I changed my location From Bangalore to Delhi. After 2- 3 days in Bangalore I found excessive hair loss whenever I shampoo my hairs or even wash those, lot of hairs are coming out. I went to Kaya clinic in Bangalore to take next session and told the doctor that I am suffering with excessive Hair fall after coming to Bangalore. She told that its climate change and it will stop in some days. I waited for around 2 weeks but it did not stop at all. After 2 weeks again I went to Kaya clinic and told the doctor that it is same. She gave me one hair fall solution. But somehow I am feeling that Kaya clinic doctors are not that good especially the one in Bangalore clinic as they don’t explain anything properly and just do the hair therapy that’s all. It’s around 35 day now but still lots hairs are coming out. Even when I move fingers between my hairs 3-4 hairs surely come out every time. Only one session with Kaya has left and I don’t want to take it and continue it as well. Please give your advice Can you please tell me what should I do? Also let me know is this permanent problem or temporary only. I am very down and out because of this. Editor’s Comments, Dear Vikas, Thanks for your information. I am not familiar with the services of Kaya Clinic although I know it’s a big skin treatment clinic chain in India and they have branches throughout the country. Anyway, based on your description of your condition, it’s probably a temporary condition caused by changing of locations and stress. There is no definite period where the excessive shedding will stop but you should observe this for another week or so before making any further decision. If it doesn’t stop, the best way is to get a full medical check-up inclusive of blood tests to see whether there are any underlying medical conditions. Sometimes, chronic illnesses that are often undetected like high blood pressure, diabetes ,thyroid and heart problems can be a cause of hair loss. Also you might want to double check whether you are suffering from initial stages of Male Pattern Baldness by observing the pattern of hair loss. If it matches the Norwood Scale, then you are probably facing this medical condition. The best route for treating MPB is Minoxidil and Finasteride so do ask about it with your doctor.
