My hair now...sorry no before pictures I forgot to take!

Hello people!

I am hailing from San Diego, CA and I am a sufferer of Male Pattern Baldness for almost 5 years now and I am now 29. I have tried many medications before I hopped into Rogaine foam in 2006 and I have been using it ever since.

For the first 3 months of usage, I found a lot of shedding whenever I applied the foam to my scalp. The hair would just stick to my finger tips after i massaged them! It's really annoying and it had got me worried back then because I can't afford to lose anymore hair!

I immediately made an appointment with my GP around the neighborhood and he told me it's pretty normal to shed some hairs when you just started using Rogaine. It's a definite relieve for me and really calmed me down as I was way worried that I am going bald 10 times faster with this treatment. He also told me to continue this treatment and take some multivitamins supplements to go along everyday for better good results.

It's been a great 3 years of using the foam and all I can say is that I LOVE IT! It works, my hair grew back up a little in the center and the kind of stop thinning in the front part.

Some info for you guys, I started treatment quite early when I discovered my hair is thinning on the top and a little receding hair line in the front. My initial treatment was some hair tonic and anti hair fall shampoo that didn't do nothing. After 2 years of testing different products I finally tried Rogaine and I have been using it ever since.

I think I am lucky because I started quite early when my hair loss is not that significant so I am glad to have back some of my hair. Right now I am satisfied with the hairline I have and I hope it's going to stay that way maybe until I am 50 or so.

Good luck to you all with your treatments!

No difference :(
by: Anonymous

I tried the Rogaine free sample, and I can say I didn't notice much of a difference. But I do think I needed to use it more often than a few weeks.

I'm not sure if I'd try it again, I'm just glad I didn't pay for it. If anyone's interested, you can find a sample here

Hair Loss

My hair is thinning; I shaved my head for a while now. Shaving your head is great if you have the right shaped head, mine is about average. Anyway, my hair is growing back and i'll settle for full coverage.

For me personally, I can see putting that crap in my head for the rest of my life. But I can understand wanting to do it if your problem is minor. Otherwise, it's no use.

Shaving your head is kinda nice in some ways, but having hair definitely has its advantages. If it were me and my hair loss was major, I'd shave it off. If it was minor, I might slap some foam on my head. Either way, the whole thing just sucks.

Shed with Foam
by: Chuck

I needed to hear some positive news with the foam. I used 2% minoxidil for about 10 years. My hair never got thicker but it let me keep most of what I had. I tried to use the 5% liquid a couple times but it irritated my scalp and seemed much oilier.

So along comes the miracle foam, which I started using about 3 months ago. I love the ease of use and that it is not oily BUT I have been shedding over the past month and a half and now have a noticeably bigger crown. It's got me a little freaked out but most (not all) of what I have read tell me that this is probably okay and that it should come back thicker.

I sure hope so. I don't want to throw in the towel but I really can't stand cleaning those hairs off of my shower drain cover!

Not working so well for me
by: Anonymous

I've been using it for 6 months and i don't see any improvement at all besides more shedding than normal. Maybe the shedding freaks me out or something but i stopped using it afterwards.

Right now I am just shaving my head bald..much easier...

Minoxidil is Effective!!
by: Charles

Hello there,

Thanks for sharing your picture with us and glad you made it! I have been using Minoxidil 5%(Kirkland) for many years now till I can't really recall when but it works. It doesn't grow back a lot of hair (I was in late Norwood 3) but it's not falling anymore!

My hair is staying put with maybe a little density. I use Pantene's volumizing shampoo and Toppik to cover some of the thinning areas but for now I am content until something better comes along. I just got to make sure I keep on using it! See ya..
