Never Ending Hell

Hair Loss Woman

I am a 35 year old female who started with this nightmare a few months after my 33rd B-day. It came on fast and scary and has not let up since. It is actually worse right now, close to two years into it. Due to bad food allergies, I have always tried really hard to eat healthy etc.

I started out by seeing my at the time health practitioner, who ran the basic blood work. Nothing really stood out, but my vitamin D and iron were on the border, so she recommended supplementing and said that could cause hair loss.

Nothing was working so several months later I got a second opinion from a Dr. who said it was telogen effluvium, and that it would last a little over a year. The hair that fell out had the standard bulb at the end, and my hair try's to grow back. In this whole process I have seen a Dermatologist, an Endocrinologist, and another Dr, who all contradict each other and don't believe in Telogen Effluvium, and have no medical reason for the hair loss.

In the process I have lost myself, and continued to dive into a deep depression. I have always had thin long hair, but a fair amount of it. Now I hardly have any hair. It is a constant battle every day, and I end up crying or unable to get out of bed now. It is an extremely HOPELESS situation when you have had it this long and it is worse. I really appreciate this site, because until now, I felt like I was the only person in the world with this condition.

Editor’s Comments,

Dear Carrie, we ensure you that you are never alone when it comes to hair loss. It’s pretty common and most people will face with some sort of hair loss in their lives. There’s always a way around hair loss. Sometimes people look for a cure, sometimes it’s more about acceptance and living with hair loss.

We can’t promise you a cure for hair loss because for some hair loss conditions there are none. What we do is to offer you an understanding of your condition, and what you can possibly try to get the best out of it.

If your hair loss condition is rather serious and there is nothing much you can do about it now, you can consider remedies like wigs. High quality wigs are really, really effective and natural looking. They offer you a quick solution to your hair problems. In the meantime, you can still find ways to heal your hair loss and hopefully one day your hair will grow back. All the best.
