My Trial and Success with Hair Loss.

I noticed my hair thinning approximately 2 years ago so I have been at this for some time now. I was about 48 years old, and never had many health issues outside of a cold. My hair is long and I started noticing that I was feeling a strand on my arm like all of the time and the amount that would be in my hands after shampooing my hair was double what it ever was.

I started by having my doctor run a general blood work up. That disclosed that my thyroid was at 6.2 (normal being no higher than 4.0)That was all my doctor told me was off at the time so I immediately went to a natural pharmacy and started taking thyroid supplements for hypothyroidism. (It wasn't high enough for her to treat with meds and I understand once you go on meds for thyroid you don't come off.

I also think although I don't seem to show signs of it that it may be related to menopause as well.
6 months later (without much real success of stopping the hair loss) I was reading an article in a magazine that stated low iron could cause hair loss in women. So, I went back and had my blood work run again. My thyroid levels were down to 5.2 (which were great since my all family has thyroid issues) and I found out that my iron was extremely low. I also found out that it had been low the last time my blood work was run as well (I didn't know ferritin (spell check) was iron).

The doctor didn't bother to tell me because "I wasn't anaemic. (Yet!) I started taking time release iron and 1000 IU of it to help it get in to my system. After about 3 months, I started noticing less hair in the shower. THANK GOODNES!!

I was pushing up to about 1 1/2 years so the loss had made my ponytail about half the thickness and I couldn't get my hair to curl anymore since it lost its body being so thin. I still wasn't satisfied so I added MSM supplement from (trader Joe's) about 2 months ago.

I HAVE SINCE NOTICED EVEN LESS HAIR FALLING OUT AND I NOW HAVE HAIR STICKING STRAIGHT UP OUT OF MY HEAD ABOUT 2 INCHES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY HAIR DRESSER THAT THIS IS NEW GROWTH AND NOT BROKEN HAIR!!!!

I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW HAPPY I AM TO HEAR THAT. SINCE I WORK IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY I HAVE SINCE HAD ABOUT 25 CRIMPED IN (NOT GLUED) REAL HAIR EXTENSIONS AT THE BASE OF THE BACK OF MY HEAD TO ADD A LITTLE FULLNESS TO THE LONGEST LAYER OF MY HAIR. (I MAY HAVE HAIR GROWING BUT IT IS GOING TO BE 6 YEARS BEFORE IT GETS THAT LONG.

I am always looking for natural ways to keep myself healthy so I am interested in adding Viviscal to my regimen and see if it offers anything else to my success.

I am also currently looking for an organic shampoo and conditioner to keep the chemicals off the hair shaft.

I HOPE THIS HELPS ANYONE THAT MAY BE STRUGGLING WITH THIS HORRIBLE ISSUE. I WAS SO AFRAID AND STRESSED (WHICH DOESN'T HELP) THAT MY HAIR WASN'T GOING TO STOP FALLING OUT. I JUST HOPE IT CONTINUES TO GO IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

Sorry I don't have a picture.
