My Telogen Effluvium Story

My hair loss happened 3 years ago. Just a normal day when I was washing my hair and all of a sudden I saw loads of hair in the sink. I tried to comb it and it was coming out in handfuls. I went to my General Practitioner the following day and the GP asked if there was a thyroid disease in the family and I said yes. My aunt has it so I went for a blood test for iron deficiency, thyroid, Anaemia and other potential conditions.
I returned for the results and all was normal. The doctor asked if I had been ill for 3 months prior to the hair loss and I said no I only had been to Turkey around that time and had gastroenteritis but I didn’t think all about this till much so. So I thought maybe it that was the reason that caused it. Who knows well after this I was getting really stressed out and I was a total mess and nobody seemed to understand how awful this was. There was hair in my food and in my washing machine. I only had to touch my scalp and the hail will fall out to the floor.
I went back to the GP and he recommended me to a hair specialist. Well that was a waste of time as he just told me I had Telogen Effluvium and it can last for 6 months to 2 years and the more you stress to more it will fall out. As the time my hair fell out I used Regaine but didn’t work but instead made it worse so I used some tablets which cost 50 pounds a box. It was a rip off as it didn’t work either. I tried all sorts to no avail and in the end I just got used to my hair condition.
Someday it was like straws and someday it was really greasy but nobody else could tell as every hair that falls is replaced by another hair so rest assured you won’t get any bald patches or go bald. You hair will just look really thin. Anyway, my hair stopped falling out after 2 years but I think all you should do is relax and it will turn itself around and don’t stress it to prevent further hair loss…
