My Hair is Giving Me a Headache!!
by Laura
(New York)
Everyday my hair seems to be falling rapidly! It used to be thick and shiny but these few months really changed everything. I am a 48 year old woman living in New York City all my life. Just recently after i entered premenopause I noticed that my hair started to thin out.
Went to my local GP near my area and she told me that I am suffering from premenopause hair loss!? It's saddening and frustrating enough and now I am losing my hair.
The doctor prescribed me with some Vitamin supplements and also some kind of medications to help balance my hormone levels. In the past 2 weeks I can see some slight improvement over my skin and hair but not much as it's still falling. I am a very active woman and i go to the park for exercises every weekend and i take periodic vegetarian diets. Can anyone help me to reduce my hair loss? Very much Appreciated!

Dear Laura, sad to know about your hair condition. Women facing menopause are usually succumbed to hair problems along in life. It's pretty normal because of the fluctuations of hormones especially a significant decrease of the hormone Estrogen. Estrogen plays a crucial role in helping regulate the beauty of your hair.
Some other factors might include stress cause by premenopause and also lifestyles changes that can cause stress to the hair leading to more hair loss.
What you can do is to take more vitamin B supplements as well as trying some herbal remedies in my Preventing Hair Loss section for help. You can also try Viviscal, it's one of the more recommended products for women trying to control and improve their hair line. It works fine and can visibly improve your hair quality within a few weeks.
I won't recommend too much medications as your condition might be temporary as your body is adjusting. So just take it easy and relax. If the problem persists after a few months, it's best to talk to your doctor or a dermatologist about it.
