I never thought my hair could mean so much!
by Dani
About 4 months ago I found out my husband was cheating on me, about 6 months ago I suspected my husband was cheating on me and started taking Welbutrin and about a month and a half ago I found out my once hypothyroidism had now become hyperthyroidism (I was taking the wrong dose of medication). So many possible causes, yet I have no concrete answers as to which one is causes the crazy hair loss. Is it the stress, my thyroid, or the Welbutrin? At first I thought it was my thyroid, but my doctor told me it was stress, now I have read story after story about on how Welbutrin has caused hair loss. My big fear is that I don't know the actually cause. If my hair loss was stress would I be losing hair from more than just the front and sides??? I'm stressing myself out even more by trying to fix my problem, yet I have no real answers. I had really long thick blond hair half way down my back, now the front of my hair has thinned so bad that I have to comb it to the side to hide my the thinner areas, I feel so terrible about how I look that I don't want to leave the house and I spend a lot of time crying, not to mention how my husband’s affair has blown my self esteem and now this. Any ideas?? Editor’s Comments, I would strongly heed to your doctor’s diagnosis and your hair loss is probably related to stress. Well of course there is no doubt that there is potential hair loss from taking Welbutrin or from hyperthyroidism, but the principal cause of your thinning hair strongly points to emotional stress. Many might not know, emotional stress can be a major contributor of hair loss and can be more severe than strong medications or a medical condition. It all depends on the ‘impact’ or ‘shock’ that you received and as for your case, it can be quite bad. I’ve once got a friend, whose father was so depressed after the demise of his daughter in law, his whole head of hair, once black as coal turned grey within a week. This is a clear sign how emotional stress can affect your hair. Worrying over your hair will make matters much worse because it will add on to the burden that you clearly unable to handle. If you want your hair back, the road to recovery starts here and you should need to straighten up and get your feet back on the ground. For starters, seeking help from friends, going out on a holiday or meditation can help. I am sure your hair will grow back after you get past this ordeal. A short hair style, wearing a cap and hair concealers can help conceal your thinning hair too. Good luck and all the best. |
