Losing Hair

Hi,

I am 29 years old, female, married.

I started to experience hair fall after my marriage at the age of 21. Later it increased at an alarming rate when I gave birth to my son at the age of 22yrs (3 months after his birth). Here during this period I almost lost half of my hair. Few years later, again at the age of 27yrs, it started falling at an alarming rate. I was having a very stressful lifestyle. Here I thought stress was the culprit.

Later at the age of 28 yrs., I consulted doctor complaining severe pain in swallowing. Here I underwent series of tests, where I was diagnosed with anemia (HB - 6.8 and RBC- 2.1, Thyroid negative). I took medication for 3 months and my HB-12 and RBC -4.21 counts came to normal.

I used Aminexil from Loreal for my hair fall. I started to apply after one month after starting my anemia medication. During this time I experienced new hair growth but my hair fall did not stop. Now in addition to my hair fall, the new hair that I gained is also falling at an alarming rate.

I don't know when will my hair fall stop (It's already 1 yr. since I recovered from anemia). Now I am leading a stress free life and healthy.

Please help me.

Dear friend,

It’s very hard to know exactly what is causing your hair loss all out of a sudden but it should be related tointernal factors like hormonal imbalances or maybe a recurring thyroid issue.

Before we proceed further, it’s important that you understand that hair fall will not stop and it’s normal for a person to shed over 50 to 100 hairs daily. Most people do not notice it but if you are peculiarly focusing on your hair, you might notice that you are losing a lot of hair and that can be scary.

Usually for medications like Aminexil to work, it will trigger some hair loss as new hairs grow from below. So it’s normal to notice a little bit more hair loss than normal during the recovery period.

Bear in mind that hair loss doesn’t stop abruptly after you decided to lead a fully stress free life. Recovery will take time like any other parts of the body. Try to be patient and see whether the condition is improving after a few weeks. If you think it’s not, the best recommendation is to seek professional medical opinion.
