Horrified again!

by Jen
(Miami, FL)

My hair loss started about a year ago. I had the Mirena IUD placed and 6 weeks later my hair began to fall out in clumps. Every doctor I went to told me it was due to stress, I was going thru my divorce at the time.

After several different doctors, several tests, and no answers, I began to research on my own. After determining that it was due to the mirena, I had it removed. 2 weeks later my hair stopped falling out completely. I was on the road to regrowth! I started seeing little hair buds.
Then around Christmas I found out I was pregnant.

It was a blessing, I am 36 and this is my fourth child, my hair was great and full and shiny with my other 3, how could this be happening? And just really when it started coming back in! I don't know if it the hormones, or my age, a vitamin or mineral deficiency, but I know that I can't just go to the doctor and have this removed!

I guess I have to resolve myself with the fact that my baby and I will have the same hair style when he/she is born!

Editor’s Comments,

Congrats first on your pregnancy and all the best to you and your child. It’s uncommon to face poorer hair quality when you are pregnant because this is the time where your estrogen hormones surge and your hair should look much better than before as you can evidently compare with your previous pregnancies.

There are many reasons for this and it can definitely be related to stress or maybe a vitamin or mineral deficiency. A thorough body check up is your safest bet to make sure everything is where it should be. Good luck!
