Death of a friend leads to hair loss

by Sandra
(Austin, Texas, USA)

I've noticed past, extreme sudden hair loss a bit after minor surgery, child birth twice, as well as crash diets. I'm 33 years old and have pretty fine hair in general.

This August, my best friend died unexpectedly in a car crash. The grief was overwhelming and I was bereaved for months.

Now, about three weeks ago my hair began suddenly coming out in handfuls again.

I was diagnosed in the past with Telegan Effluvium, so I'm not worried about it. Basically, my hair will shed for a month or two (sometimes longer) and it will get very thin. Then it will begin to grow again.

It looks awful with long hair for me, so when I go through these stressful times with hair loss, I cut it to chin length.
