Wig Products

With proper wig care, your wig's life and durability can be extended and that in turn will save you thousands in the long run. Let us see ways on how can you manage and perform proper wig care.

Proper Wig Care for Human Hair Wigs

When Washing

Always make sure you wash human hair wigs in cool or luke warm water. If you use it daily, wash your wig with mild shampoo and conditioner to reduce the hair from tangling. Try not to scrub the wig but instead rustle and rotate it upside down a few times to even the wash. You can also try patting it softly while holding it with your other hand.

Drying the Wig

Leave your hair in a cool place to dry, preferably an open space. It's not recommended to put it out in direct sun light as over time, too much UV rays might damage the hair's texture just like your own hair. After drying, spray special wig detangling and shine spray and then comb and brush it accordingly.

Setting Your Wig

To set your wig, follow these simple steps below.

  1. Comb your wig to make sure there is no tangling and then set the rollers with rolling papers and setting cream.
  2. Place it under the sitting drier on low heat settings for approximately 45 minutes to an hour. If you don't have a sitting drier, just leave it on your wig stand or wig head overnight for it to dry.
  3. When it is dry enough, remove the rollers and style as you like it.

Styling Your Wig

When it comes to styling, human hair wigs are very flexible, just like your own hair. You can use

  • Hot driers
  • Curling Irons
  • Flat Irons
  • Any other styling tools

Do take notice that if you are using a plastic wig cap, excessive heat can melt it. Try to avoid exposing too much heat near the wig cap. You can also use sheen sprays if your wig gets frizzled up. Use any wig sprays or styling gel for hold as per your requirements.

Although you can use any comb for styling your wig, it's best to use wide toothed combs for curly and wavy hair. Also try not to use brushes too often brushing can damage your wig's surface.

Storing Your Wig

Try to get a wig stand or a wig head to store your wig to prevent tangling and catching dirt. Also if you are travelling, consider styling your wig in advance and place it into a wig box so that you won't flatten it.

Proper Wig Care for Synthetic Hair Wigs

Synthetic Hair Wigs are much easier to maintain and manage compare to human hair wigs. Most of these wigs come prestyled and that means you won't have to spend too much time restyling it.

When Washing

Always make sure to use cool water when washing synthetic wigs. Use synthetic wig shampoo and conditioners recommended by your wig dealer. Like human hair wigs, do not scrub it but instead whoosh it sideways and upside down. You can also pat it softly to even the wash.

Drying the Wig

Leave it in a cool place to dry, like your living room avoiding sun light. Like human hair wigs, too much UV rays might damage the fibers liveliness and color. After drying, comb and brush it and apply detangling spray if needed.

Setting Synthetic Wigs

Setting synthetic wigs are just like human hair ones, just follow these basic steps and you are done.

  1. Comb the wig from the bottom to the tip and make sure it's not tangled up and then set rollers with rolling papers and setting cream.
  2. You can place the wig on a sitting drier for 40 minutes to 1 hour but I do recommend you to just place it on a wig stand or Styrofoam. Heat is not good for synthetic wig, so just in case it's best not to try your luck.
  3. Once it's dried up, take out the rollers and papers and style to your liking.

Styling Synthetic Wigs

Not For Synthetic Wigs The only major difference between human hair wigs and synthetic wigs are that the former CANNOT STAND HOT STYLING TOOLS. Make sure you don't use
  • Hot blow driers (Cold settings are okay)
  • Curling Irons
  • Flat Irons
  • Steamer
  • Anything that heats up the wig

You can straighten and style your wig on a wig stand and steam it with a cloth steamer on low settings instead as you comb. Get synthetic wig hair sprays and styling cream instead to prolong your synthetic wig's lifespan. Certain human hair sprays can degenerate the synthetic hair fibers.

Although you can use any comb for styling your wig, it's best to use wide toothed combs for curly and wavy hair. Also try not to use brushes as too much brushing can damage your wig. If you have preset spiral curls or dreads, just use your fingers to brush it.

Storing Your Wig

When you are not using it, store it in a hair net or on a wig stand. For travelling, just get a wig box to prevent it from tangling.
