Using Organic Shampoo
for Hair Loss

If you are looking for a good shampoo to complement your hair loss treatments or if you just undergone a hair transplant procedure, I couldn't recommend you anything else than choosing an organic shampoo instead.

Organic Shampoo

With the recent revelations of harmful chemicals and substances found in some conventional shampoos, I suggest that you should avoid these harsh chemicals considering the fact that some of your topical treatments might already have enough synthetic chemicals to stress your body out.

The World is Going Organic, Have You?

Organic World

If you haven't noticed, more and more big stores are starting to promote heavily on organic beauty products as their main stream beauty supplies. Once limited to specialty organic stores, major retailers like

  • Bed, Bath and Beyond
  • Nordstorm
  • Target
  • Walmart
  • and every where else!

are starting to focus on Organic Products. Even major shampoo manufacturers are slowly churning out more natural, organic shampoos and reducing their synthetic chemical footprint in their products. Why so? Because there are so much interests related to synthetic chemicals and its effects to your health and the environment, minds are slowly pointing on the benefits of natural and organic products.

Why Organic Shampoo Is Good for Hair Loss?

Although it's a myth to say that conventional shampoos can cause hair loss (check out my Hair Loss Myths Page!), think about the chemicals like Sodium Laureth Sulfate, and other synthetic elements found in shampoos that might cause potential health problems. Let me put it simply, since these chemicals won't help you grow hair, might as well get some natural products that do.

Choose a mild shampoo for regular use, preferably those that do not contain too many synthetic chemicals. Organic Shampoos contain more natural ingredients and preservatives that can reduce scalp and hair stress and can boost your hair growth. Natural herbs listed below are a good source to help you with your hair loss.

  • Rosemary
Rosemary can stimulate your hair follicles for better growth and is a good ingredient if you are suffering from dandruff problems.
  • Chamomile
Widely regarded as a hair tonic, this herb can restore your hair's shine and strengthens your hair preventing breakages and split ends.
  • Thyme
Although thyme is not widely used, it's a good complement to have it as it can help with your dandruff problems and clears pollutants on your scalp.
  • Lavender
Besides from smelling really nice, lavender is an important ingredient because it cleanses and soothes your scalp.
  • Jojoba
Another important herb to consider is to get Jojoba. Jojoba can reduce hair follicle blockages and improves hair growth.
  • Pomegranate
Pomegranate fruit extract, from the tree Punica granatum, contains several polyphenols and anthocyanidins which are highly antioxidant, protecting hair and skin.
  • Aloe Vera
Widely regarded with its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, Aloe Vera helps protect your hair and prevents hair loss diseases like Folliculitis.

Volumizing Effect

Some natural ingredients can have Volumizing effects on your thinning hair. If you are suffering from Pattern Baldness, your hair will usually look fine and fragile, herbs that can improve your hair's volume will significantly improve and reduce the fine look of your hair. Try looking for ingredients that also contain the following.

  • Panthenol
Pro Vitamin B5, derived from rice husks and deeply moisturizes and repairs damaged hair
  • Wheat Protein
Derived from wheat germ, emollient, strengthens and protects.
  • Soy Protein
Soy Protein has been found to assists in hair growth and provides volume.

Defining Organic Shampoo

When it comes to food, organic simply means food grown without the influence of

  • antibiotics
  • hormones
  • irradiation
  • pesticides
  • bioengineering

So if you get any food products that are certified by the USDA as organic, rest assured is it as naturally grown as it gets.

Really OrganicHowever, when it comes to personal care products, almost every product labeled 'organic', isn't. While there are some basic guidelines that require food products to contain 95% of organic content to be certified organic, at the present moment, there isn't a concise reference for personal care products.

Based on the current requirements, any manufacturers that include a certain percentage of organic content can self certify that their products as 'organic'. Usually in shampoos, the most abundant ingredient is water that can comprise up to 80% of the shampoo's volume. Some manufacturers define that since their water is from natural source, it's considered 'organic'. The rest of the ingredients can be a mixture of herbal or some fine pinches of fruit extracts leaving the remaining to be synthetic chemicals and preservatives.

So what is Really Organic?

The problem is at the present moment, there are not really a lot of brands that produces 100% fully certified organic products. However, it's not necessary to put too much thought over the need of a 100% purely organic solution. As there are some very good manufacturers that make good organic shampoos, they still use a few less harsh chemicals to make the shampoo effective. As far as a good choice is concern, this shampoo is by far the most organic and suitable at the present moment.

With so many herbs that can naturally protects and improve your hair condition, there shouldn't be any need for relying on conventional shampoos. It's time to go with the flow. As the world is slowly but surely adapting to organic products and the manufacturers are starting to go green, make your step first.
