How to Choose The
Best Hair Transplant Surgeons

Welcome to the final Part of Hair Transplant! If you have been reading my previous pages, you should know by now that Follicular Unit Transplantation is the best choice for hair transplant. You should also know whether are you a good candidate for this procedure and how much it will costs you.

Hair Transplant Surgeon

Are you ready? Stop deciding. Like what Nike says, "Just Do It". It's time to help you find the best hair transplant surgeons in the country.

Is He The One?

(I will be using 'he' for the surgeon since most of them are men. No offense here, I am not a sexist)

When you start to filter the surgeons, make sure he has the qualities and experience of a professional and has the knowledge in Hair Transplant like Wikipedia. Anyone can tell you about heaven and earth, but delivering it is totally another thing.

Well, I am not saying they can't, but it's better to make sure and to have luck on your side. Like what people say,

'Luck is When Preparation Meets Opportunity'

Prepare yourself with necessary knowledge and when you find the right surgeon, GRAB IT!

START SHOOTING!

Got your first appointment with your surgeon? It's time to aim the gun and fire mercilessly for some answers! Ask everything about anything.
  • Ask about Follicular Unit Transplantation and the numbers of this procedure he had performed.
If he has done 50 transplants or more and still in practice, he should know what he is doing. Ask him for details about this procedure too.
  • How long has he been in this business?
Although how long does not prove he is a good surgeon, if his clinic has been running for more than a decade, it shows that he has done something right.
  • Is hair transplant his only business?
A good hair transplant surgeon is about dedication. Make sure that all he does is hair transplant and nothing else. You are looking for a hair transplant pro, not a cosmetic surgeon.
  • Get 'Before' and 'After' photos.
All good surgeons will take and keep before and after photos of their patients as references. Evaluate these pictures attentively to see whether it's a job well done.
  • Get references from his patients
You can even go a step further by asking for any references from his patients. If the surgeon can't convince you with some reference, it shows that he/she lacks experience and credibility.
  • Scan through his wall's decorations
If the surgeon's wall is blank except his derm cert, it might show that he or she has not been working hard on networking skills with major institutions or health organizations.

Experienced and well known surgeons usually are invited to join elite associations as a symbol of their excellence in the industry. Look out for some of these accreditations from elite associations

  • Ask him for a clinic tour
Check whether your surgeon's clinic provides state of the art equipment with all the necessary tools like stereo microscopes. If you have time, meet with his team members and have a chat. (Add some points if the clinic provides entertainment during the procedure!)
  • Oh, don't forget to ask him about the costs of your procedure.
If he still stands after all that pounding and you have found excellent credentials, good feedbacks, testimonials and outstanding clinic facilities, do remember to ask him for an overall cost. If the price is reasonable to what he can offer, it's time to take the plunge.

Better to Be Safe Than Sorry..

Remember, don't be shy when you ask questions. Make sure your money is well spent. How well you researched is how good your new hair transplant will be. Never settle for second best, investigate and make sure that your hair transplant surgeon offers nothing but the best for you.
