The Daily Hair Loss Prevention Guide

First Thing in the Mornings – Wash Your Hair Right and Massage

Hair loss prevention starts right you enter take your bath. When you wash your hair, wash it right by starting with the right shampoo. First of all, make sure you choose a shampoo that is suitable for your hair type. Different hair types require different kind of formulas. Protein and Panthenol rich shampoos are great for fine hair while oily hair dictates a shampoo with oil control.

A mild shampoo with conditioner is gentle for daily washing instead of certain treatment shampoos that can be quite taxing for your hair. I am currently using Avalon Organics Biotin B Complex for daily washes. It smells nice and it's really gentle on my hair. While you are shampooing, massage your scalp in a circular motion to promote blood circulation to your hair follicles.

Style it Right! - Less Chemicals, Less Pressure But More Essentials

Hair Spray DistanceWhen using styling products, remember the word 'sparingly'. Many people I know tend to overuse styling products and that can lead to residue buildup on your scalp and hair. Overtime, these residues can irritate and trigger dandruff problems.

Try to use as little styling products as possible. For creams and gels, avoid contact with the scalp if possible. When using hairsprays, keep a good distance (at least 10 inches away) and spray evenly and lightly to the desired area. Recently, I've discovered many sorts of organic hair styling products that is infused with vitamins and essential oils like this one here. You might want to see whether it suits you.

When it comes to tying, knotting or braiding your hair, DON'T TUG THEM TOO HARD! Many healthy growing hairs can be dislodged unnecessarily when you pull them too tight. If possible leave a little breathing space between the hair and scalp to prevent Traction Alopecia.

First Meal – A Big Hearty Breakfast

My mum told me that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So do my dad, my doctor, my nutritionist and WebMD too so I guess it must be true. Why is it so important? Check it out from WebMD yourself here!

Breakfast is indeed good for your health and for hair loss prevention as well and if you eat it right with the perfect combination of foods, there is no better way to reward your body and hair. A healthy breakfast should include a combination of low fat meats, eggs, beans, whole grains and dairy products. Add in some fruits if you have the appetite!

If you don't have time to feast yourself a good old breakfast you can these tips on how to have a great breakfast on the go!

The Next Meal - Compromise on your Diet

If there's still some space left for lunch, take something light instead like salads, sandwiches or fruits. Snacks can include whole grain bars, bag of beans, celery or carrot sticks are tasty choices and great nutrition for your hair too.

A good dinner can consists of grilled dishes like salmon, chicken or a sufficient portion of meat. Here again, a good combination of meat and vegetables is the way to go for healthy hair. You practically don't need to overhaul your diet but basically try avoiding too much salty, deep fried and oily foods.

*Drink plenty of water

During Work – Take a Nap?

Power NapSurprise, Surprise! If you don't know yet, scientists have found that taking a mid-day nap or power nap can help reduce stress, increase productivity and better emotional control. No wonder it's widely practice in Asian countries like Taiwan and Japan to help increase worker's effectiveness. So if you are really worn out, a short nap of 15-20 minutes can help reinvigorate and freshen up your body.

Stress has always been a factor for unwanted hair loss and a common cause of stress is often from working pressure so take a break before you snap. If you are not comfortable to sleep during the day, do find time for a little break when you are under stress. Other ways to relax includes meditation and taking deep breaths.

Back Home – Stretch and do some Light Exercises

Some people might say that doing exercise can increase hair loss because it creates more DHT, the principal cause of genetic balding. Although it's logically true, unless you are overdoing it (like some hardcore muscle builders that overexerts themselves) I don't see any reasons why exercising cannot in turn help in hair loss prevention.

Cardio exercises like jogging, aerobics and sports are great ways to keep your health in check and experts have recently stated that it can instead regulate your hormone levels and reduce DHT formation. Besides that, regular exercises improve blood circulation, reduce stress, prevent heart conditions, flush out toxins, slow down aging, increase stamina and a lot more. So try your best and find some time to exercise daily for your hair and health's sake.

Before You Sleep – Things to Remember

A final step in hair loss prevention is to make sure your hair is dry before heading to bed. Wet hairs are usually much more vulnerable to static and rubbing during your sleep wbich can cause unnecessary split ends and breakages. Try air drying your hair with a fan instead of a hot blow dryer.

If you have long hair, tie your hair up a loose braid or knots or use a night cap. By doing so, can reduce the chances of your hair getting tangled or frizzed up from the friction while you sleep.

It's Not That Hard After All

Hair loss prevention is not that hard after all right? All you need is a little commitment and these simple things that you do daily will definitely reduce unwanted hair loss. So let's make a promise to yourself and you will definitely see the rewards.
