Got a Dandruff Problem?
Let's Solve It!

Heard of the classic song 'Rain Drops Keep Falling on My Head' by B.J. Thomas? How about this, 'Dandruff Keeps Falling From My Head'? It's really a more famous tune as it's a phrase regularly sung in almost 50% of men and women's minds.

Dandruff

If there is hair related condition that bothers you more than hair loss, then it must be this dreaded scalp condition. The problem is, it's sometimes really persistent and can irritate, cause embarrassment and discomfort especially when you are wearing dark colored clothes. In some cases, it might mimic an infection that if left untreated, another potential cause of hair loss.

What is Dandruff?

EpidermisOur skin and scalp are breathing cells that will eventually die and new ones will replace them. Overtime, new cells replace the dead ones by pushing them to the surface of the skin (also known as Epidermis) where they will automatically dislodge through time. In normal conditions, the process is steady and takes around 2 to 4 weeks before the cells are pushed to the top of the skin and you will hardly notice the shedding.

However, due to certain reasons like an infection, skin cells can die off rapidly than intended. In a process that usually takes weeks, a concentrated amount of dead cells can accumulate and flake off in just a few days. To simply put it, your dandruff problems are patches created by sudden flaking of dead skin cells over a short period of time.

So Why is it Happening to Me?

A really good question indeed. Even up to know, no one can actually pinpoint a direct cause of it. There are actually a lot of potential reasons and sometimes it might be related to a sudden change in your lifestyle or stress but doctors and researchers are putting the blame on a few main criteria like

  • Excessively oily scalp
  • Fungal infection
  • Stress
  • Hormonal Imbalances
  • Poor Diet
  • Scalp Sensitivity
  • Poor Immune System
  • Dry Weather
  • Improper Hair Care
There are probably many other reasons that can cause your scalp to flake excessively but in most cases, it will come and go away and can suddenly appear over time without you even noticing it. So the best solution for you to is prevent and reduce the chances of its reoccurrence.
