Who made this?

Glaxo Smith Klein is a very well known British pharmaceutical giant that has a history dating back to the 1880s. GSK was formed when Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKlien Beecham merged in 2000. The company achieved sales in pharmaceutical products of £ 19.2 billion for its most popular products like

  • Seretide for asthma
  • Vaccines
  • Avandia, an anti diabetic angonist
  • Lamictal for epilepsy

The company has presence in more than 70 locations worldwide and its products go through very strict quality controls and tests.

What makes it work?

The main active ingredient of Avodart is of course Dustateride. This drug is a potent DHT inhibitor as it blocks two types of the 5 Alpha Reductase(5AR), a necessary enzyme for the formation of DHT.

The main reason behind Pattern Baldness is caused when the 5AR enzyme binds with the hormone Testosterone to form DHT. While Finasteride blocks 1 type of the 5AR enzyme, Dustateride can block both types of the enzyme therefore is technically more effective in stopping DHT production.

Studies show that Finasteride can block 70% of DHT creation while Dustateride can almost block 100%. Most users of this product experience more growth compare to those using Finasteride.

So whats the Side Effects?

Taking Avodart might set off certain side effects quite similar like Propecia. You might experience the effects longer comparatively because of its ability to stay in your body longer than Finasteride. Finasteride usually leaves the body after 1 day but Dustateride can stay in your body for over 200 days.

Some of the most common side effects are

  • Breast tenderness
  • Decreased sex drive
  • Ejaculation problems
  • Impotency

This drug can also interact with certain medications like

  • HIV/AIDS medication
  • Certain antibiotics like Biaxin, Nizoral, Sporanox
  • Anti depressants like Prozac, Luvox or Paxil
  • Other types of anti depressants and immunosuppresors

IMPORTANT

Since Avodart is a potent drug, always inform your doctor about the medication you are on and allergies to prevent potential complications.

As this drug has the same method of action like Propecia, women must not touch or handle it. It is known to have negative effects on the child?s development during pregnancy. As Dustateride can be absorbed through the skin, it?s best to keep it out of reach from children and women at all times.

Blood donations should not be done if you are taking this medication to prevent it from transferred accidentally to pregnant women.

Who should take this?

Only men should take this medication. This medication is a potent enzyme inhibitor and can cause serious complications in expecting women. As for men, if you want to try this medication, you should make sure that you have no serious medical symptoms and conditions before taking. Also, it's best to try Propecia first because it's a FDA approved treatment for hair loss.

At the moment, GSK has submitted Avodart to FDA for approval for using to treat hair loss. Currently they are in Phase III testing stage and results are expected to be out soon. A less potent or reduced quantity of this product might be released in the near future to treat hair loss.

How should I use this product effectively?

If you want to try this medication nevertheless, you?ll need a prescription from your doctor. Tell your doctor that you want to use this medication for treating hair loss. If he finds it suitable for you to do so, follow the instructions given attentively.

There is no effective usage methods I can offer to you now because this drug it?s not designed and acknowledged for hair loss in the first place.

What I can tell you is that you must not overdose this medication. Take according to the prescription and if you skip, don?t compensate and Keep it out of Reach of Women and Children!

This medication is in gel capsules, so keep it away from hot and humid places to prevent it from spoiling.

How much it costs you?

Avodart is quite expensive. A standard 30 pills supply of 0.5mg Avodart will cut you short of roughly USD 60.00 per month. Although normal consumption is expected to be around a tablet a day, you will have to fork out around USD 350 for a six month?s supply to see any benefits from Avodart.

If you see no credible results after that, then you should stop taking it.

In my Opinion

For stopping DHT, Avodart proves to be more effective than Propecia. However, I would think that this product is not yet suitable as a long term medication for hair loss. Since this treatment is meant for treating enlarge prostate, people taking this medicine without this condition is exposed to unidentified risks. I would say it?s best to wait till further results from FDA or the further trials before including it in your regimen.
