Alopecia Areata NewsThe main reason this condition is so frightening is simply because it happens out of a sudden without any warning. A single or multiple bald patches can just mysteriously appear without any signs or symptoms at all.

In most cases, the bald patches will disappear by themselves in a few months as new hairs grow back up. However, in certain cases, the hair loss can continue to extend and be permanent. In some really rare cases, you might end up with total scalp hair loss known as Alopecia Totalis. The most severe circumstance is Alopecia Universalis (1 in 100,000), a sub condition where total facial and body hair is gone.
